The God Who Knows You
“O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways” (Psalm 139:1-3).
These words penned by King David describe what theologians call God’s omniscience. He knows and sees all things. Nothing escapes His divine attention. Does that encourage you or send arctic chills up and down your spine?
The deepest yearnings of the human heart are to know and be known, to love and be loved. God knows you better than you know yourself, and He still loves you. The psalmist concluded, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me” (v. 6).
