Sweet Aroma of Prayer
Inside the holy place of the Old Testament tabernacle was a small altar where the priest would burn incense that was holy unto the Lord (Exodus 30:1-10). A pleasing perfume would fill the small worship space and linger into the holy of holies. It is a picture of the sweet aroma of intercessory prayer.
Today, Jesus’s primary ministry in heaven is intercessory prayer. He prays for us, in us, and through us. On the night before He was crucified, Jesus voiced a powerful high priestly prayer in the upper room with and for His disciples (John 17).
Prayer is conversation with God, a dialogue not a monologue. With it, we enter into the holy presence of God. What does your prayer life smell like?
