First published in Folk Song of the American Negro, a study of African American folk music by John Wesley Work, Jr., “Go, Tell It On the Mountain” is a popular Christmas hymn that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. But it was a revivalist named Isaiah who first told us to shout good news from the highest hills.

“O Zion, messenger of good news, shout from the mountaintops! Shout it louder, O Jerusalem. Shout, and do not be afraid. Tell the towns of Judah, “Your God is coming!”(Isaiah 40:9)

Revival opens our eyes to see Jesus more clearly and proclaim Him more boldly. When God revives us, He comes in strength, generosity, tenderness, wisdom, and sovereignty. Our Creator is larger than life and nobody compares to Him (Isaiah 40:9-26).
