Management By Walking Around
“Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest” (Revelation 1:12-13).
Tom Peters and Robert Waterman wrote a book for corporate America called In Search of Excellence. They coined the phrase “management by walking around” or MBWA as a way of describing how exceptional executives make their companies excellent. The authors encouraged executives to get out of the ivory tower and mingle with their workers.
Jesus manages His church by walking amidst the golden lampstands, not as a corporate CEO but as a royal priest.
