Godly Sorrow
"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." King David's heartfelt words from Psalm 51 remind us how important it is to express deep sorrow for our sin.
Is your heart broken, truly crushed by the weight of your own transgression? Are you sincerely sorry for your sins? If so, you're closer to God than you think. The highway to happiness is paved with godly sorrow that leads to genuine repentance.
There can be no rejoicing or comfort until our hearts ache over sin. That's why Jesus said, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
