Death Valley is a land of extremes located in eastern California. It is also home to Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, iconic characters from the Looney Tunes cartoon series. Beep! Beep! Cue the sound of a raven flying high above the Badwater Basin.

“Extreme” is the correct word to use when describing this undesirable place in the northern Mojave Desert because, while it is set between high, snow-capped mountains, Death Valley is America’s lowest, hottest, and driest national park.

The psalmist David had a place something like Death Valley in mind when he wrote, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me” (Psalm 23:4). Rest assured. Your good shepherd will get your through Death Valley.
